Make the most of your day and discover the Karst.
When you visit the Park, you’re already in the heart of this land. Here are some local gems we’d love for you to discover.

If you want to discover truly breathtaking scenery, don’t miss the Grotta delle Torri di Slivia, remarkable for its exceptional number of limestone formations. During guided tours of around 75 minutes — available in multiple languages and in small groups — you’ll be captivated by history and natural beauty. Reach the cave from the Torri di Slivia farmhouse, hopping aboard their fun agribus.
If you’re looking to connect with animals, visit Fattoria Antonic – Asino Berto, a farm committed to keeping alive the traditions of this land while respecting animals and nature. It offers a wealth of experiences: from purchasing farm products to unique adventures like a walk with the shepherd or a night under the stars.

Everyone knows the Rilke Trail that runs along the cliffs of Duino but not everyone visits Castello di Duino, the private residence of the Princes of Torre e Tasso, where the great Bohemian poet was a guest — and he was far from the only one: the Castle has hosted Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi), Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Johann Strauss, Franz Liszt, Gabriele d’Annunzio, and many more. The Park is well worth a visit, with its stunning views over the sea.

Let’s travel much further back in time with a visit to Villaggio del Pescatore, one of Italy’s most fascinating paleontological sites, where in the 1990s one of the world’s finest hadrosaur specimens was discovered — perfectly articulated and nearly complete: the dinosaur Antonio. With Cooperativa Gemina you’ll uncover the story of its discovery and can become a palaeontologist for a day by taking part in the laboratory activities.

Our Karst also means the sea, so we simply couldn’t leave out at least one of the beach resorts along the coast. That’s why we’re telling you about one of our territory’s most historic establishments: Le Ginestre, where you can relax in one of the most beautiful settings on our shoreline. If, on the other hand, the Adventure Park has sparked your energy and you still can’t sit still, you can dive into the depths of the sea and explore its biodiversity with Sistiana Diving, in the stunning bay of Sistiana.

There are plenty of options in the area to suit all tastes — some of the places we’ve already mentioned even offer rooms (Le Torri di Slivia). We also recommend Azienda Agrituristica Mezzaluna, a truly distinctive spot with spaces designed by local artists and its own stables. If you care about organic living, check out Azienda Agricola Carso, with its farm shop selling organically grown produce and a bio-camping site nestled in an oak and ash woodland. Finally, if you’re looking for complete relaxation in a stunning setting, head to Camping Village Mare Pineta, overlooking the Bay of Sistiana from a panoramic position where your gaze drifts out over the Gulf of Trieste.
